They “thought we knew what was going on” because they listened to Brother Stair and received what he said. “We figured out that we don’t know.” This proclamation of Rice that you magnify here is telling us (unfortunately not telling them) that Brother Stair “didn’t know” what was going on – because Rice is basing his ‘thoughts’ and ‘knowing’ upon “being faithful to” Bro Stair’s prophecies and teachings.
The failure of ‘thought’ and ‘knowing’ is with Bro Stair. If they can admit that then they will start to get free of the lying messenger that they believed, whose words have now put them in confusion because they cannot come to terms that ‘his words were lies’. So they struggle in confusion because they cannot admit that.
